PriceOut Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
PriceOut is a crowd-powered price-transparency tool. This policy describes exactly what the browser extension and backend collect — and, just as importantly, what they never collect.
What we collect
Only when you click Report Current Page — nothing is transmitted before that explicit action:
- Product URL, sanitized before storage: tracking and auth parameters (
utm_*,fbclid,gclid,session_id,auth_token, etc.) are stripped; the fragment and host case are normalized. - The price you saw (and the “was” price, if visible).
- Optional coarse context you choose to provide: broad region (e.g. “US — West”), and checkboxes for logged-in and loyalty/Prime status.
- Device type — a coarse bucket (desktop / mobile / tablet) derived from your browser’s User-Agent string.
What we never collect
- No name, email, or account identifier.
- No cookies, session data, or login credentials — all requests are sent with
credentials: 'omit'. - No precise location, no IP-based geolocation, no persistent user ID.
- Nothing is read from the retailer page’s DOM to infer who you are.
How your data is used
Reports are aggregated across the crowd to measure price dispersion and likely personalized pricing for a given product. Findings are published only in aggregate — never as user-level data and never as accusations about individuals.
Sharing
We do not sell per-user data. Any commercial product is derived aggregate analysis, subject to legal review. We earn no affiliate commissions.
Retention & contact
Aggregate reports are retained to build the price-transparency dataset. Questions or deletion requests: hello@priceout.app.
